Challenge
Tide and Timber is a new pediatric dentistry office opening in Bellingham. As a new practice in Whatcom County, they wanted to establish themselves as a welcoming office for children and a trusted resource for parents.
The practice owner, Dr. Mitch, needed help translating his vision into a digital experience that felt both professional and approachable. The website also needed to communicate with two audiences at once. Parents, as the decision-makers, needed a clear structure, trustworthy information, and an easy-to-navigate experience. Children, as the primary patients, needed to feel safe, comfortable, and unafraid of visiting the dentist.
The overall goal was to create a unique and personal website that welcomed new patients while helping both kids and parents feel at ease.
When we built the Tide and Timber website, we focused on creating a strong first impression. As a new practice, they needed to feel trustworthy, reliable, and welcoming.
We collaborated with Dr. Mitch to create a visual style inspired by the bay and natural beauty of Whatcom County. Soft colors, friendly typography, and open spacing gave the website a calm and approachable feel. We also added forest, mountain, and water-inspired design elements to reinforce the practice’s local identity. To avoid the typical dental website look, we designed the site from the ground up with authenticity in mind. Every design choice supported a warm and comfortable experience for both parents and children.
For the UX design, we took a parent-first approach. The site quickly answers important questions about services, the patient experience, and appointment booking. Clear calls-to-action throughout the site help parents navigate with ease. We replaced overly clinical language with messaging that feels clear, personal, and approachable.
With many parents browsing on their phones, we designed the website with mobile usability in mind. Parents can quickly book appointments, pay bills, and find important information from any device. We also built the website to grow with the practice. Flexible page layouts make it easy to add services, update content, and expand the site over time.
